| Lake Piru, Man Perishes in River trying to Save his 2 Daughters R"L |
Rabbi Isaac Leider actively involved in the search efforts at Lake Piru, California, for Naftali Smolyansky Z"L, who disappeared underwater during an outing with his three children. The 39-year-old father of five dived into the water to save his five year old daughter who went overboard.
A massive search effort was undertaken by the Ventura County Sheriff Department's elite search and rescue team, the Lake Piru Rangers, along with Hotzolah Los Angeles and volunteers who scanned the waters and shoreline. VitalOne flew in from New York with an expert K-9 Unit specializing in water searches. After a week-long search, Smolyansky's body was finally recovered, bringing closure for the family.
