| Haiti Recovery |
Alexander Bitton, an information technology consultant from Montreal, had landed in Port-au-Prince on his first trip to Haiti barely an hour before the country was hit by a massive earthquake. He was traveling with his boss, who later reported that Bitton had just finished checking into the Hotel Montana when the quake turned it into rubble. The 37-year-old Bitton perished when the hotel collapsed. He left behind a wife and a 2-year-old son.
VitalOne’s Search & Rescue team flew in from New York to assist the local authorities with Bitton’s identification. When Bitton’s body was finally discovered, VitalOne was instrumental in getting him back to Canada as soon as possible, where arrangements for his burial were made.
