Newborn Transfered For Emergency Bowel Surgery
VitalOne coordinated an emergency flight aboard the Airborne Neonatal Intensive Care Aircraft, transferring an 8-day-old infant from NYC Hospital to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The baby was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's Disease, a complete bowel obstruction that needs to be removed surgically. After the 95 minute emergency flight, the baby received emergency surgery by the world-renowned colorectal surgeon Dr. Alberto Peña, Director of the Colorectal Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The Colorectal Center for Children is the world's only comprehensive and multidisciplinary center specializing in the treatment of anorectal malformations, Hirschprung's Disease and other serious bowel conditions in children. VitalOne ensured that the baby arrived at the right destination where its condition was treated by the best possible experts.
