| A fifteen year old patient from Israel, suffering from a serious heart defect, arrived at Newark airport at 5:30 one morning, with a medical escort. His flight from Israel continued with an ICU jet flight to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Johns Hopkins Children's Center offers one of the most comprehensive pediatric medical programs in the country, and is a world leader in repairing such heart abnormalities. Doctors in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit successfully stabilized the patient. |

Rabbi Miller was on site when Rabbi Leider arrived, and was already working together with local authorities.
VitalOne explained to Chilean authorities that Jewish law requires every drop of blood and tissue be buried with the deceased. Under VitalOne’s guidance all twelve victims were recovered and identified. The US Ambassador to Chile, Craig Kelly, and staff member Mr. Sean Murphy worked around the clock to expedite the release of the victims. The remains were soon flown back to the US for a proper Jewish burial.
