One cold night, VitalOne whisked a critically ill patient away from death’s door by arranging a life-saving Medevac airlift so he could receive the emergency care that would save his life.
The patient, barely alive after experiencing acute liver failure, was deteriorating rapidly in the local hospital in upstate New York. He was in critical need of life-saving care.
The PennStar Medevac helicopter airlifted the patient to the Intensive Care Unit at University of Pennsylvania Health System Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was cared for by Dr Abraham Shaked, the director of the Penn Transplant Institute and chief of the Division of Transplantation Surgery. He is one of the most experienced and respected surgeons in the country for adult and pediatric liver transplantation.
Incredibly, the patient was released just ten days later and he returned home to his jubilant family. |
