Such a transfer had probably never been done before. As the senior cardiologist said, nobody in the world would undertake such a risky mission. But Rabbi Leider said yes.   VitalOne worked with El Al Airlines to set up a hospital in the back area of the plane—a flying intensive care unit, complete with life-sustaining machinery, the closest thing to flying the hospital along with the patient. The medical team included a cardiothoracic surgeon, an anesthesiologist, and a critical care flight nurse. The patient's family also accompanied the patient.
