| 5 Year Old Boy Severely Burned |
 |
A five-year-old boy from Israel sustained burns on 90% of his body after his bed caught fire during his sleep. He was pulled out of his burning bed by a heroic neighbor, and then the fight for his life began. After the Israeli doctors gave up hope, the family contacted VitalOne in a desperate attempt to give their child another chance at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, where the world renowned Dr. Richard Kagan is the Chief of the Division of Burn Surgery. VitalOne arranged for an El-Al plane equipped with an airborne ICU to bring the child to Newark Airport, where Rabbi Isaac Leider, who coordinated the tremendous logistics of the trip, was waiting. An air ambulance jet with highly trained pediatric ICU doctors flew the child to Cincinnati, where the young patient was immediately placed in Dr. Kagan’s care.
